The personal injuries team at Maddens Lawyers are fielding enquiries concerning compensation payable under the Redress WA scheme. The scheme was set up by the Western Australian Government to assist children who suffered neglect or abuse whilst under State care in Western Australia prior to 1 March 2006. In accepted applications, the applicant is entitled to an apology for the impact of the harm suffered, counselling and an ex-gratia payment of up to $80,000.00 in some cases. The State government has set aside $114 Million for the scheme, and applications must be lodged by 30 April 2009.

The head of the personal injuries department at Maddens Lawyers Mr Gary Foster said that the firm was well placed to assist applicants in making and managing their applications, having been involved in the Irish Redress Board claims in southern Ireland over the last several years. Mr Foster said that the schemes were very similar and that the firm's experience as the leading Australian law firm in processing Irish claims left his team well placed to appropriately and efficiently manage claims to Redress WA.
